KANSAS CITY, Mo. — THE INDEPENDENT SHOW — July 28, 2014 — Qwilt Inc., a global leader in transparent video caching solutions, and National Cable Television Cooperative, Inc. (NCTC), a cooperative of independent cable operators, today announced that they have signed a master agreement for the sale of Qwilt’s Video Caching Solution to the NCTC membership. With this agreement, NCTC members will be able to purchase and deploy Qwilt’s video caching solution in their networks to optimize video traffic, reduce network costs and improve customer Quality of Experience.
Qwilt’s video caching solution is already deployed at a number of NCTC member networks and the results, in terms of ROI and improved Quality of Experience are excellent. “Subscriber quality of experience is an organizational priority, and Qwilt’s platform demonstrates substantial improvements once deployed,” said Brandon Brooks, IT Manager of Yucca Telecom. “By serving popular bandwidth-consuming content like streaming online video and system updates from inside the network, Qwilt’s platform reduces network congestion, improves the broadband experience for our customers, and helps us take a strategic, data-driven approach to expanding our network capacity.”
“We’re pleased to add Qwilt as one of our preferred suppliers for NCTC members,” said Corey McCarthy, CFO and SVP Business Development of NCTC. “Qwilt’s product, business model and operational successes are a great fit for the requirements of our members. By signing this agreement with Qwilt, we continue to help our members maximize profitability and competitiveness with the latest technology and the most desired products.”
Qwilt’s QB-Series Video Fabric Controller monitors video traffic across operator networks in real-time to identify trending and popular titles, and then stores and delivers them locally at the subscriber edge, in close proximity to end users. Qwilt eliminates the need for redundant video streams from origin sites or content delivery networks (CDNs) across the operator network. By doing so, Qwilt speeds up delivery time and minimizes network strain and congestion, especially during peak viewing times, for a flawless, high-quality consumer viewing experience.
“Qwilt’s solution is ideal for NCTC members. It’s non-intrusive, simple to deploy and brings immediate value in terms of network cost reduction and improvement in Quality of Experience,” said Alon Maor, CEO of Qwilt. “Nearly every one of our customers see ROI in less than 12 months. We’re pleased to establish this partnership with NCTC and look forward to bringing value to its members.”
